Regarding book uploads.

Can we please make uploading free of any restrictions? I understand restricting downloading to members who have been here for some time but if a newbie just wants to upload I don't think it harms anyone, it would only add to the content on the forum.

I think restriction on uploading for new Members makes sense. I'd rather have no-limits on downloading and some limits on uploading.

Restricting downloading books is valid rule, as one should contribute something to be able to use free best content.
The restrictions on uploading content might be due to the reason, to avoid new people create invalid threads or content. Meanwhile read-only option allows us to got through the forum rules and content, as in which kind of post should be posted into which section, etc,.

Genuine uploaders should not be made to wait for 10 hours. It slows down the growth of the forum. Genuine verified uploaders can be allowed in Readers room IMHO. Malicious users can be blocked.

Why not give credit to folks who want to upload books instead of the basic 10 hrs and 10 credits alone? I mean, if a person is contributing by uploading books, that is a definite help to the group and it shows he/she is increasing the value to the site.

Exactly!!! I don't think a new member uploading some content harms the forum. I think the membership of reading room should not be linked to uploading and only downloading (which should definitely be kept restricted).

Moderators may have come across some issues with unverified uploads. I think this is the reason they don't allow uploads from newbies. But, they should consider these well thought suggestions

I think there will be no meaning in updating online hours based on uploads. Points addition is reasonable.
